The Vanier Museopark is pleased to announce the arrival of its 2026 maple syrup batch, a 100% pure syrup proudly produced in the heart of Richelieu Park.
Each year, the Vanier Museopark continues a well-established maple syrup tradition in Vanier dating back to 1939. The syrup is harvested and processed using traditional methods, with spiles and buckets, as it was done in the past, right in the heart of Richelieu Park.
The season began in mid-February with the tapping of the maple trees, followed by the collection of sap as it flows in rhythm with the freeze-thaw cycles. The transformation then took place at the sugar shack, where the sap was carefully boiled down into a richly flavoured syrup. Its colour naturally varies from year to year, depending on harvesting conditions.
This production is above all the result of a collective effort. Each year, the Vanier Museopark team, supported by a dedicated community of volunteers, helps keep this unique urban tradition alive while passing on valuable expertise.
For the 2026 edition, nearly 1,000 bottles were produced. The labels for this batch were designed by local students, highlighting community creativity and the connection between heritage and the next generation.
Students who designed the labels:
- Charlotte Rennie
- Ghorga Arbab
- Emma King
- Ariana Alain
The 2026 batch is available in limited quantities at the museum gift shop as well as at the Vanier Sugar Shack.
This project is an initiative by Thomas Baribault, manager of the DeSerres store at St-Laurent Shopping Centre, in collaboration with the Vanier Museopark.
