Perpetuating the traditions of yesteryear in the heart of the city!
The traditions of the maple syrup season are a set of cultural practices that take place in the spring, when the sap from sugar maples is harvested, transformed, and enjoyed. These traditions stem from Indigenous knowledge, but today, they represent convivial moments and a festive period that bring people together.
At Vanier Sugar Shack, the only one operating in an urban setting in the country, the maple season is marked by community collaboration. It serves as both a place of production, sharing, and warmth. From tapping the sugar maple trees to the artisanal production of maple syrup, not to mention the famous sugar shack meals where maple syrup is king, the maple season unites the Vanier community year after year.
Volunteers are the backbone of Vanier Sugar Shack, whether it’s during every stage of maple syrup production or helping with service and kitchen cleanup.
For its part, all stages of maple syrup production are now carried out by the Museopark team with passion and dedication.
The Vanier Sugar Shack restaurant is now closed for the maple syrup season.
We look forward to welcoming you back in 2027 for the next maple syrup season!
However, the Vanier Sugar Shack remains available for private event rentals (weddings, receptions, and other special occasions).
