Eastview Chronicles

Testimonials and memories of yesteryear

The Eastview Chronicles is a series of friendly gatherings designed to bring together those who once lived in the former Eastview neighborhood, now known as Vanier. These in-person exchanges provide a unique opportunity to uncover memorable moments and fascinating anecdotes shared by former residents of the area.

Each meeting offers a chance to dive into the living history of Eastview through the personal stories of those who experienced it. These testimonies, often filled with humor and nostalgia, are collected by the Muséoparc Vanier team as part of an effort to preserve Francophone oral heritage and pass these stories on to future generations.

The Eastview Chronicles are an invitation to rediscover key events, from the infamous antics of Father Barrette, the mischief of local youths on the White Fathers’ grounds, the splendor of Saint-Jean-Baptiste parades, to tales of fires that repeatedly ravaged Eastview’s infrastructure. These often surprising stories contribute to the enrichment of our collective memory.

By participating in the Eastview Chronicles, you become part of this mission to preserve and transmit Vanier’s historical and cultural heritage. Join us to relive, share, and safeguard the memories that have shaped the history of our neighborhood!
