OUTDOOR Permanent Exhibit

The Authors’ Path

What better way to discover or rediscover our Franco-Ontarian authors than a walk in the woods?

Inaugurated in September 2012, the Authors’ Path is a permanent outdoor exhibit at the Vanier Museopark, located in the heart of the urban forest of Richelieu Park. The trail is dedicated to some 30 men and women whose pen inspired novels, poetry, plays and folklore stories that have shaped the Francophone cultural heritage in Ontario.

The French language has been present in Ontario for over 400 years. With the break-up of French Canada, an autonomous literature developed in French Ontario in the early 1970s. Today, Ontario boasts
8 Francophone publishers.

In the summer of 2022, a digital component with MySmartJourney was added to the Authors’ Path, allowing visitors to listen to audio clips on some of the authors. Simply scan the QR code on the signs to access this exclusive content. Try it out on your next walk in the woods!

This permanent outdoor exhibition is open all year round, free of charge.
