How to donate an object to the museum
Thank you for considering our museum as the recipient of a valuable, patrimonial object from your family or community.
Your gesture is a sign of trust and helps enrich the museum’s collection while preserving the heritage of the Vanier neighbourhood.
We are always looking for objects that will enhance our collections and help further our mission. If you would like to donate, please take a few minutes to read our guide and learn about the criteria to ensure your unique item becomes part of our collection.
Questions to ask before making a donation:
- Does the item tell an interesting story?
- Does it align with our collection mandate, i.e., does it have a strong link to Vanier’s historical, cultural and/or Francophone heritage?
- Are you the rightful owner, and are you ready to transfer ownership?
- Does the Vanier Museopark already have one in its collection?
- Does its size or condition allow it to be easily preserved in the Museopark’s reserve?
- Can it be used in an exhibition, educational program, or research?
- Will we be able to properly care for it?
Space is always limited, so we are unfortunately unable to accept every donation. However, we carefully review each offer. Please note that not all accepted items will be displayed; many are kept in our reserves or used in educational programs to be manipulated.
If your donation has significant value, we can provide a tax receipt. For donations under $1,000, a professional evaluation will be conducted by the Museopark’s personnel. For donations exceeding $1,000, an external appraisal will be required, at the donor’s expense.
