Permanent Exhibition

Vanier. Our Place.

It’s in a completely renovated museum that visitors will discover Vanier in a new light. The permanent exhibition Vanier. Our Place. highlights the history of the neighbourhood and its community, as well as its important contribution to Ontario’s Francophonie.

Discover all the steps from the founding of the villages of Janeville, Clarkstown and Clandeboye to today’s Vanier, through the development of the town of Eastview. Discover the families and important figures, businesses and parishes that have left their mark on the history of this emblematic bastion of Ottawa’s Francophone community. Learn about the White Fathers of Africa, who gave their name to the street on which the museum is located, and who built the very first sugar shack on the very spot where the Museopark still operates theirs today.

More than 150 artifacts are on display throughout the new tour, which features 5 sections on the history of Vanier.
