It is not so long ago that History is concerned with women and the important role they have played in our society. Formerly concerned with national history and that of great men, history has rediscovered the path of the builders of our country. It was therefore high time to dedicate an exhibition entirely to the great women of French Ontario. Personalities from the past, present and future, the women featured in this exhibition illustrate the contribution of Franco-Ontarians to the richness of our people, at each stage of our collective development.
The curtain rises on the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. It is a time of exploration, clearing and colonization. Modern Ontario is in the making. It was at this time that the first French women crossed the soil of Ontario and laid the foundations of what would become French Ontario.
