Understand methods of harvesting and producing maple syrup. All kids love maple syrup, but do they know where it comes from? The Museopark offers 4 workshops for your small apprentice maple syrup producers.

 

Sweet bites of maple

Children walk through the heritage forest of Richelieu Park and discover its main attraction: a unique urban sugar bush! Children are introduced to the cycle of the seasons, the different species of maple trees and the phenomenon of sap flow. They learn to respect the ecosystem by participating in a treasure hunt.

School levels: Kindergarten to Grade 1

 

Maple on the table

Let’s go for a walk in the woods and discover the sugar shack! This activity takes place in the heritage forest of Richelieu Park where the main attraction is one of the rare urban sugar bushes in operation! Stories and legends about the origin of maple syrup, the handling of artifacts, observations in nature, and the development of a maple syrup production timeline will help students discover that the charms and delights of maple syrup are not limited to tasting!

School levels: Grade 2 to Grade 4

 

Crazy for taffy

Making maple syrup requires a good understanding of the sugar bush operation, accurate measurement of maple product refinement, and the execution of several manual tasks.

Show students the cycle of maple water from tree to table while making them aware of the realities and challenges associated with preserving the ecosystem of Richelieu Park’s heritage forest, where the main attraction is a unique urban sugar bush!

Stories and legends about the origin of maple syrup, the handling of artifacts, observations in nature, and an inference-based activity will help students discover that the charms and delights of maple syrup are not limited to tasting!
