OTTAWA, February 22, 2023<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Vanier Museopark is proud to announce the return of the Sugar Festival, which will take place in person\u00a0from March 27 to April 2, 2023, at Richelieu Park<\/strong>. A flagship event in the Museopark\u2019s public programming, the Sugar Festival celebrates the sugar season and allows visitors to reconnect or become familiar with the artisanal way of producing maple syrup.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to finally be able to present a full-scale, on-site Sugar Festival to locals and visitors from the greater Ottawa area\u201d, said Madeleine Meilleur, Executive Director of the Vanier Museopark. \u201cWe have a few new additions to the program this year thanks to community partnerships, including with the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition for our music programming. We are confident that festival-goers will be delighted to discover a host of local talents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ottawa Music Industry Coalition is proud to partner with the Vanier Museopark to present the 38th edition of the Sugar Festival, showcasing local talent,\u201d added OMIC\u2019s Executive Director M\u00e9lanie Br\u00fbl\u00e9e. \u201cWe know that along with the museum and hospitality sectors, the music industry has been among the hardest hit in recent years. So we\u2019re excited to come together again and showcase these incredible artists. This is a great opportunity for us to offer a taste of the city\u2019s culture. Overview of the Vanier Sugar Festival program (#fds2023)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sugar Festival is a gourmet and cultural event that brings together young and old alike around various activities that are sure to please: sugar shack breakfasts, musical performances under the big top, farm animals, lumberjack skills competition, inflatable structures, space dedicated to First Nations, Metis and Inuit culture, and many other surprises \u2013 not to mention delicious maple taffy!<\/p>\n

Among the activities to be highlighted this year:<\/p>\n

Monday, March 27, from 5:30 to 9:00\u00a0p.m.<\/strong>:\u00a016th annual Soup(e) Splash<\/strong>, a friendly culinary competition where Ottawa\u2019s best kitchens compete to create the best maple syrup-based soup.<\/p>\n
